Fine Dining

Yesterday while I was walking on the treadmill, my husband was watching an episode of Chef’s Table that featured chef Massimo Bottura. One of Massimo Bottura’s “famous” dishes has only 6 tortellini on the plate.

“He is right… people wouldn’t appreciate the ingredients if you gave them a lot to eat, but with so little food on the plate, I would still be hungry after eating dinner there,” I said.

“If you don’t want to be hungry, you can always eat at other places,” my husband said. He then went upstairs to get dinner ready.

I came upstairs after I was done walking, and found a plate on the table in front of my seat.

“That’s your dinner, dear,” my husband said.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

This is funny, Helen. Several years ago a new Italian restaurant opened in town. My husband and I went there. Turns out a co-worker and his wife also tried it. I said: “Did you go out to eat after dinner?” “Yup. We were starved,” was his response. I guess I am not meant for fine dining. I wanna eat!

Thanks, Lois. Me, too! I like to eat plenty of food at restaurant, and work on damage control (weight control) on the next day 😉 But I have to say that his dishes looked great on TV. I even googled… it will easily cost $1000 for two. Maybe on my next life…
I am so excited for your soon coming retirement!!! Life will be busier, and happier, you’ll find out.
      Have a wonderful day.

Helen–next Friday is it for me! I am excited. I’ve loved my job but have no regrets–bring on retirement! A group of my coworkers are taking me out to dinner next Wednesday evening. I will keep an eye on the portions…. 😉

Hilarious! My mom and dad have talked about similar things. When my mom cook noodles or fried rice for the whole family, my dad sometimes will compain the amount of the food in his bowl or plate is too much. Then my mom will say my dad should go to those fine dining restaurant and have those French cuisine.

LOL. As a matter of fact, a lot of restaurants here serve too much food, I think. One restaurant every time I went there, my leftover was enough for two more meals. So if I complain about not having enough to eat, I think others would, too.
      Have a wonderful day.
