In 2002, a year after we lost both of our parents, my sister Karin was diagnosed with breast cancer. The first thing she said to me was: “I am so grateful that I wasn’t diagnosed with cancer when our parents were still alive. Can you imagine how mom would take the news?” The second thing she said to me was: “If every family has to have a victim of cancer, I am glad it is me instead of you or Yvonne.”
Karin passed away in 2013, but I know she is with us, still.
I would like to invite Lois, Sue, Adhika to participate the challenge. Again, please don’t feel that you have to accept the invitation. No pressure! 😉

Thank you for sharing these two precious photos, Helen. I love the quote. I don’t have a sister (no cousin sisters either), always envy the sisterhood. Karin had a big heart, her love to you and Yvonne will always be with you.

Thanks, Amy. Karin did have a big heart. Even when she was in chemo session, she still wanted to take me out to the park or shopping mall. She was amazing.
Knowing you, you would be a wonderful sister for anyone because I know you are a great friend for many! 😉

That is a nice compliment, Helen. I’m a tomboy type. Often, I’m not as sensitive as most of my female friends. May be it has to do with growing up with bunch of boys. 🙂

Good morning, Mabel – one of the wisest young people I have ever met. Three cheeky monkeys? You made me laugh (and a little sad). I will definitely tell Yvonne about this. 😉
Interestingly, we have lots of monkeys (Chinese zodiac) in my family. My mom, Karin, my daughter, and one of my nieces.

So sorry to hear about your sister, Karin, such a sad loss. They say that only the best suffer from breast cancer, the most caring souls. Perhaps they give so much of themselves for others. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos of the three of you together.
