I want to thank Lois from On Pets and Prisoners for inviting me to join the “5 Day Black and White Challenge”. The rules are: (1) publish a black and white photo every day for 5 days (2) invite someone to participate each day.
First, I would like to invite Amy from The World is a Book to join us for the challenge. Amy shares not only great photos, but also a lot of wisdom words. When Amy speaks, I feel, the world becomes quiet because everyone wants to listen.
What can I say about Lois? She is a lovely lady who has a wonderful sense of humor. Whenever I see her name in my READER, I smile, and hurry to go to read her post. Through her blog, I’ve gotten to know some prisoners’ stories and learned that we all deserve a second chance.
Lois’ first photo is about water. I decide to follow the leader. I took this photo at Ocean City, Maryland. The boy was 30 feet away from the ocean (I don’t know where that pool of water came from.) He seemed enjoying the moment.
I think… if I’ve included people in distant background, it would be a better photo. Agree?
I am so thrilled that Lois asked you to participate. Your black and white is wonderful!! But then I would expect that!! 🙂

Thanks, Cee. Good morning! I have a confession to make… every time I saw a 5 Day Black and White Challenge post, I hesitated to press “like” because I want to be invisible. Ha ha. But when Lois invited me, I was, actually, happy and appreciate the opportunity. So weird. 😉

Good shot, Helen! I have no idea why that boy wanted to be in that puddle of water. That’s just so insane. haha.

Thanks. But he looked so content 😉 By the way, I was thinking of you… You know that, right? Ha ha…
Do you think adding people in the background will make the photo more interesting… so it would emphasize how he chose to be alone?

You think that I would be interested in lying down in that puddle? Eww! Haha. But for what it’s worth, I am sort of into this “minimalistic” style lately and I think one interesting would be this boy lying down on one corner and then on the other a couple other children playing… in the middle there is nothing but just plain dirts..

Ha ha ha… how easy to miscommunicate.. I wasn’t thinking you lying down in that puddle. I’ve emailed you.
Minimalistic sounds good. I have to keep that in mind. Thank you.

By the way, “puddle” was the word I was thinking (thank you), but I didn’t quite remember it. English is still hard for me.

It is a beautiful shot! I like the solitary feeling of one person in the photo.

Thanks, Robin. There were a lot of people at the beach. Somehow he managed to carve out an area for himself 😉

Helen–you are super! This is such a great shot but I wonder how deep in the water you were to snap this? I love it as is. The focus is totally on him. So excited!!

Thanks, Lois. I stood on dry sand. I don’t know where did the boy get the water. It was dry sand all around him, except the puddle he was in. The ocean water was 30 feet from him.
It was a fun photo 😉

This is a great shot by itself! It leaves a bit of mystery just to look it from the back. I wish I have time to join.

Good morning, Perpetua. I am glad you like the photo. I didn’t want him to change his position, so it was easier to shoot from the back. 😉
I don’t think it takes a lot of time to do this challenge. Then again, I am retired. The way I measure time maybe is different from working people. 😉 Have a great day!

Thanks, Tree. Most people on the beach looked happy, but he, like you said, looked content. This is my favorite photo on that trip.

Thank you! Just visited your blog. It’s interesting how we all take different kind of photos… and that is great. I like your selection of the 5 photos. They make me think… 😉

Creativity by each blogger when a challenge comes up can be astonishing. I think it’s the reason I enjoyed the challenge. I liked seeing which way people gravitated. Glad you enjoyed the slide show. I figured most people wouldn’t have time to pop to view all of them. Thanks !!! : )
