Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: Week 23
Luckies Bar and Grill is located near Toledo in Ohio. The food is good. Its wall is covered with license plates. The waitress told us that it used to be that if you brought your old license plate to the restaurant and gave it to them, you would get a discount for your meal. We do have an old license plate in our garage. Maybe I will give it a try next time.

This is one pretty cool theme, decorating the restaurant with old license plates 🙂

Thanks, Sreejith. Your comment means a lot to me. By the way, one of my goals (I do have several. ha) is that one day I can shoot photos like you! Your photos have souls… 😉 I just love them.

That’s a great compliment, Helen, Thank you so much 🙂
My photographic skills been improved quite a lot after joining this forum.
There are quite a lot of amazing people here, from whom I learned a lot 🙂
Have a beautiful day ahead 🙂

Your fantastic photo reminds me of something I saw yesterday at the San Francisco Main Library. The wall is made up of thousands upon thousands of cards from the old card catalog. Being a book lover, I have such wonderful memories of thumbing through actual cards, not virtual ones. I love the computer, and some losses are inevitable, but this one is poignant for me. I guess I am lucky my town even has a library.

Carol, you are right. We should all feel lucky that we still have libraries. 😉 I have never thought of that I may lose it one of these days. Will I?
Have a great day!

I felt the same way when the card catalog disappeared, but the online one is so easy to use and I can order books from other libraries, enter a keyword and find all sorts of books on one subject and so on. I think libraries will be around forever, although they’ll change. Ours now offers e-readers to check out and e-books you can download and when the due date arrives, they vanish from your computer/e-reader. But there are still books, real books, for which I’m also thankful. I love browsing the stacks to see what I might like to read or re-read. I think libraries are one of our most valuable possessions as citizens and the right to be able to freely read and learn is invaluable.

I agree. When I grew up (in Taiwan), I probably visited our library once (to get a copy of some legal document, I think). I don’t think we were told anything about library. I didn’t know what it was; didn’t even know it existed. I was shock when I visited library here after I came to U.S. I didn’t know there was such a magical place!

Good morning, Amy. Thanks for your nice comment. I did get a couple of not-so-happy faces when I took the photo. I guess I shouldn’t disturb their dinner, but I just couldn’t help it 😉

I loved to take pics in the restaurant before the digital camera age, I recall my husband was embarrassed by that 🙂

My husband is opposite. He always tells me “Here is a good picture. You can take a photo of that. Get closer… etc.” Sometime I felt embarrassed, and he would say to me, “There is nothing to be embarrassed about taking a photo.” But when I told him to take the photo himself at that exact time, he often refused. 😉

This is a big issue for me right now, maybe it will change with time. I see so many great photos opportunities, but I am afraid to take them because of the people around. I am basically a shy person.

Carol, I am very shy too. Sometime I would get upset with my husband when he pushed me because I didn’t want to get out of my comfort zone. But sometime, a little push worked, I hate to say.

I was thinking of taking a class, that would push me out of my comfort zone. The problem is if pushed too hard, a person retreats. It has to be the right amount!!!

He is fine with taking pic in restaurants now, since everyone is using the digital camera, anytime, anywhere… 🙂

Carol, I have overcome some of my shyness. Not all of them, but some. And I am 10 times happier. It’s worth the effort! You will always have us to support you!

This is very cool. I adore it all the license plates. If I were a hoarder or collector I would collect license plates…have no clue why.

Good morning, Cee. First, you fixed the link!!! Yeah! I wanted to tell you that long ago, but kept forgetting it. Like I said, I do have my previous license plate in our garage. If you decide to start collecting them, let me know. Ha ha… if it is ok with Chris, that is.

Toledo must be the home of funky restaurant decoration, Helen. Tony Packo’s has all sorts of stuff in it, too, and was mentioned in M.A.S.H. Love the photo.

Thanks, Janet. I will check Tony Packo’s next time we drive through. We drive to D.C. at least once a year for many years (before my parents passed away, it was two or three times a year). We like to find different things to see to make our trip interesting.
Have a great day.

Very cool restaurant design. There’s a place like that in San Diego called Hodad’s. The guy has been featured in many Food Network shows. I think there’s more license plates in what you showed here than Hodad’s.

Well, I only took photo of one wall. Another wall is long and narrow so it would be hard to take a good photo of it, and that wall have many license plates too. 😉

Great picture, but someone has climb a bit in order to hang any more.
